ART is our ARTillery to defend human rights!
We challenge local up-and-coming visual artists, musicians, actors, dancers and spoken word artists to communicate human rights messages through their different art forms. ARTillery is about young people going to an exhibition or a gig with your favourite local artists but at the same time finding out about issues like poverty, torture, refugees, violence, censorship and indigenous rights. It’s about young people making a real difference on human rights issues in a way that is creative and fun.
At each event, you'll be contributing to worldwide campaigns that call for an end to human rights injustices. To find out more about the campaigns, see www.amnesty.org.au
ARTillery is an initiative of Amnesty International Australia, run by young volunteer activists. It began in 2008 as a one day festival in Perth and expanded in 2010 to a ten day festival in Perth, Melbourne and Brisbane. This year, ARTillery is going national!
