CANBERRA EVENTS
In 2011 the ARTillery Youth Arts Festival is exploding into Canberra! We'll be showcasing some of Canberra's finest local artists and poets, who have been challenged to use their freedom to make the difference on Amnesty International campaigns for Individuals at Risk of persecution.

Poetica Academica
1 part poetry slam, 1 part new works from inventive young poets and performers in collaboration with academics from ye olde traditional disciplines - a truly multi-disciplinary event! We're asking these creative types to use their freedom of speech to make the difference, protesting the imprisonment of renowned Chinese journalist and Nobel Prize winner Liu Xiaobo. With new works from Julian Fleetwood + Simon Rice, Andrew Galan + Jenni Kemarre Martiniello, Fenella Edwards + Jen Webb, Josh Inman + Molly O’Brien and Varisht Gosain + Tyrell Haberkorn. Masterpeace - "What's different makes us the same"
Browsing the shops this Xmas? While you're at it, pick up an ARTillery Festival Map at selected independent shops in Braddon and Civic! Use your map to explore local emerging artists' interpretations of the stories of Iranian women at risk of persecution for demanding equality. Special event: Exhibition opening and tour
We're launching masterPEACE with a guided tour where you'll have the chance to hear directly from young artists about their artworks, and activists about the work they do with Amnesty International. The tour will take "pit stops" at certain locations where young theatre and spoken word artists will perform short original works.

Yes! To celebrate International Human Rights Day and the culmination of ARTillery Festival! Enjoy a tremendous "Letter Writing Marathon", hear from a surprise speaker about Amnesty's amazing history and get your hands dirty by taking action on Amnesty International's campaigns.
